i first have a question: i have a male cat (about 3 years old) name stu. i found him, or should i say he found me, in may of 2001. he has all the characteristics of a bengal cat. everything from his behavior(he loves playing in his water dish) to the black paw pads and black tip of his tail. he is tabby pattern, the only place that shows spots is on his underside. it is quite remarkable. how can i find out if he is a bengal? the most exciting feature of stu is his enormous paws, and i mean huge. he looks like a wild cat when he walks around the house. if anyone can help me please email me, i can submit pictures. the only thing is, is that i cannot understand how ( if he is a bengal cat)anyone can lose a cat like him. i have never had a cat with a personality like his. please help me

My name is Amanda, and I have a 7 month old kitten. Thanks for a wonderful informational website, but I'm still not completely sure what kind of cat I have. About 6 months ago, I went to a local pet store, and saw a little kitten that absolutely had to have. I'm 20 years old, and I usually don't fall head over heels for any animal, even though I love animals and have several cats and dogs in my time, but for some reason I had to have that little kitten. My fiance' , my son, and I all wanted her. The owner of the pet store said she might be a Bengal, but they weren't sure. We left the store without her, but after a weekend of thinking about nothing but that kitten, I went back that Monday with the $15.00 it took to buy her, and took my tiny, sweet, little blue-eyed ball of fur home with me. Along with her, also came a new litter box, soft food, litter, toys and a bed to sleep in. We named her Sweetie, and now she is approximatly 7 months old, and a lot bigger, longer and taller. Now that she is older, I've begun to wonder about her breed. She doesn't act any at all like the previous cats either of us have owned, and is different in many ways. She has some of the markings like the pictures of the cats on your website, but doesn't look like any of them entirely. Another website I visited led me to belive she may have a hybrid wildcat mix in her, because of the similar markings and temperment. How would I find out for sure? She looks exactly like the wildcat hybrid picture on that website, and she also has similarities to the bengals on your website. I'm seeking help and any info I can get. Thanks.

I own what I had thought was a male common tabby. I noticed some very unique markings on him that lead me to believe he may be mixed with another type of breed. His colors are a light brown, dark, brown, rusted brown, black markings very interesting in detail on face and body, cream colored underbelly with black lepord print markings all over it,and bright vibrant green eyes. I had always felt he was special due to his gental temperment and well behaved manner. I visited this great site and recognized his facial markings to be identical to most of the cats shown here as well as most of his markings. So is there anyway I can find out for sure if he is part Bengal? If anyone knows of a way to have a cat assessed for Bengal genetics please let me know. Thanks hugs and purrrrzz. D.

I have an apx 3 yr old male cat that I got about 2 years ago. I had no clue what kind of cat he was, untill now. I have always liked the bangle cat but had no idea how many different kinds. I found a pic of a cat that lookes just like my meshu to the tee. It is a pic of a Seal mink marble. My meshu has blue eyes, a red nose with the orangish color around with a brown and cream color marble coat. He also is a talker I tell you. He is the best behaving cat I have ever had, and has a great personality. I swear at times he realy knows what I am saying. So I am pretty sure he is but if anyone who knows more about the breed and would be willing to take a look at a pic, that would be great cause i would like to know for sure. Thank you

I have an F1 Bengal female (spayed). What a piece of entertainment!!! She is a real character. Ceiba is almost 6 years old. Extremely personable and a talker. Loves people. Shilo, Ceiba's neice, is quite the opposite. She is an F2,spayed female. She will not allow anyone to hold her or catch her. Taking her to the vet is quite a task! She's very lovable but it has to be on her terms. I love receiving her "love bites" She has been outside once and wants no part of it again. Very happy to stay inside. Shilo is close to 5 years old. The two of them together is awesome. Just came across your site by accident, just like I came across Ceiba and Shilo - quite by accident! Would love to signup to your website. Bonne

I love your website and attitude! I happened across this wonderful breed following the death of our loved one, my son's cat. After promising him a new kitten over the following weekend, I realized that cats are true to their lunar cycles. The only kitten in town, including every shelter in four counties, was a Bengal. We took the male leopard. Since then we rescued a female and now we are a very happy family of far more than I ever anticipated!!! What a beautiful array of colors! It's amazing the love our happy couple feel for each other. I've never seen two cats adore each other like this before. Thank all the powers that be my landlord is a vet! My father taught his kitten to fetch for him...these Bengals never cease to amaze me! Thanks for the great website!

As a professional graphic designer, I'd like to say what a great job you've done with your site. I especially admired your clean logo treatment. The contents of your site read incredibly well too. It was concise and enlightening. I also enjoyed the bravado of your attitude and the depth or your knowledge. To tell you the truth, I'm a dog person at heart: owning, breeding and successfully campaigning my Akita dogs as well as Akitas owned by others throughout the country. Never did I think a cat would catch my eye. But after doing some reasearch and learning what I've learned about your breed, I think it safe to say that I'm about to get hooked on Bengals! It's good to know that responsible breeders like you are out there. The moment I'm ready to open up my home my heart and my pocket book for one of these stunning beauties, you'll definately hear from me!

I don't show off my two 9 month old female traditional glittering spotted Bengals, yet they've become moderate celebrities among my friends and family, to feline admirers and detractors alike. I researched breeds for a cat to keep my 3 year old domestic short hair company, came across Bengals, read Dan Rice's book, and began networking through breeders in the NC/TN area. I went to get one kitten from Sarah and Carlos Castillion in Nashville, but took two sisters. I could not have asked for or imagined two better raised, intelligent, affectionate, beautiful, fun-loving and hilarious pets. They love to play in the bathtub and have taught themselves to fetch. I laugh myself sick almost every day...any others owners in Tampa area?

I wasn't sure about what breed of cat I wanted to get until I read your webpage. I found bengal kittens for sale in the newspaper from a breeder. I knew a little bit about them from cat books but not enough to make a decision that the bengal was the breed for me. After reading about them through you, I decided to get a 13 week brown spotted tabby. His name is River and he is the love of my life. I couldn't be happier with him. I was surprised at his personality that he didn't act like a typical cat, which was much appreciated by me and my significant other (he is a dog person). To his delight, River acts much like a dog! Your websight is terrific. Thanks for the info.

Greetings from Jersey - no, not New Jersey, I'm on that little island across the Atlantic, just off the coast of France. We stumbled across the breed by way of a newspaper ad., fascinated we went to visit kittens - came back with 2! A beatiful Snow (Ronnie) and his brother, a Brown Spotted (Reggie). We learned about Bengals subsequently through web sites. Wish I'd found yours earlier! Congratulations on a super site - it goes to the top of my bookmarks! Best wishes Chris Knight

I didnt know what a Bengal was till I came across you site. I was walking last week with my Grandson and this beautiful white cat with black spots wandered out of someones yard and came up to us to be petted. It was the most beautifull cat I had ever seen, I think it might have been a Bengal

"Found" the Bengal Cat on the internet. Have fallen in love. Am "surfing" far and wide to learn as much as possible. Have sent for book by Mills. Unfortuneatly, some sights don't have pictures, some sites are out of date or dead ends. Couldn't there be a "central clearing house" on the net kept up to date by the breeders?

I am considering this breed as a pet. However, I am most interested in pattern (over color). I would like a very clearly marked marble with good contrast. Can this be judged in a kitten? Any help you can offer will be most appreciated!

Just found this site- great info for Bengal Owners and I have a quilt problem here- I got my kitten 2 wks ago-asked around about declawing and went to my vet -she is great kitten and got her scratch post-but she preferred my curtains and sofa-vet gave me info and was experienced surgeon-read today how horrible it is to declaw-and its too late. My kitten had surgery last week-did real well but refused the paper litter for declawed kittens after surgery. Went in middle of my new comforter on bed-both urine and stool. was horrified and thought whatan intelligent cat she wasn't going to stand for new litter in her box. after readingtoday about lars info on declaw I hope I have not done damage here -she seems gto be adjusting and what can I do now- she is declawed. Will she be okay???She is in door cat- and yrs ago my Ragdool Calico was declawed so I did not think this was cruel-I am sure Bengal owners are going to rake me over the coals after reading this- I feel awful and have learned sometime valuable- is is true the behavoir of the cat changes- she is playful and loving and has slept by me since she came home-really wants more affection than before. I will understand if you beat me up over this- I really thought it was okay to do this.... Marcia- Guilty in Florida

My husband bought me a Bengal for christmas and at the time she was approximately 12wks old, our concern is that she was cage kept and is in this constant battle with my 4yr old female ragdoll. We think she may be fighting for dominance. She is also freightened very easily by humans. We also have a male orange tabby that she is in love with. We are considering getting her spayed and are wondering if this would help our situatiion. Thank You, The Stigall Family

I got a 9 month old female bengal 1 week ago. She has lived in a cattery pen with her mother since she was 9 weeks old, i think human contact was minimal. She is very shy, but is coming out from behing the couch to eat, drink and toilet. She also comes out to play in the evening. I had to handle her to clip her claws and she didn't hiss or scratch, but just ran away as soon as possible. She refuses to come near me and a pat is out of the question. I have no other pets, should i get another cat for her? Any other suggestions on how friendly she might become?-I don't really mind but it would be nice to be able to stroke those spots! Thanks for a brilliant site.

I can't find any info on Bengals in NZ and was very pleased to find your site. I saw a Bengal kitten in a shop in Honolulu and thought it was a real beauty. Would it be possible to fly one all the way from USA to NZ? It is a very long flight and I would be concerned about the cat's well-being. I would probably want a male & female. My husband works for Air New Zealand and flys regularly to LA, so this might help. If you have any other ideas, I would be very pleased to hear from you. Kind Regards Your WEBSITE is superb - we're still learning here in NZ!
